Nära samarbete sker med företagsforskarskolorna Naturliga Material och Kulturvård samt fenix, båda med Göteborgs universitet och Chalmers Tekniska Högskola som hemvist, samt med Nordregio (Nordiska Ministerrådets institut för regional utveckling)

Under 2001 har en rad kontakter knutits kring forskning kulturarv och regional utveckling. Ett europeiskt nätverk har etablerats där bl a Imperial College och UCL i London ingår tillsammans med Helsinki Tekniska Universitet, Dansk Byfornyelsesellskap, Tjeckiska Akademin samt Universitet i Rom, Neapel, Bamberg, Brno, Cardiff och Kaunas.
